Aure Prima
The first train of the day, from the footbridge to the end of the platform.
A short documentary piece filmed in the hour before a city station gets busy, when the sun comes through the roof and the tea is already on.
Eastline gave us the central station for one hour, between the first tea and the first commuters, as long as nobody noticed we were there.
A small crew and a moving sun
Arne shot handheld, a sound recordist followed with one boom, and I directed from a few steps back. The sun comes through the roof at a low angle then, and we moved with it platform by platform.
Ending on the crowd
We lost the light at 07:25 and didn’t mind, because the first crowd was always going to be the ending. The minute-by-minute is in the journal: The hour before a station gets busy.
