Alta Lenna
A rusty swing set in a garden nobody has mown since the summer they left.
A five-shot short about a childhood garden, filmed in one afternoon while the light was already turning gold.
Isak had a garden, a swing set rusting in it and one afternoon before the light went. I had a camera, a light meter and no time to set up twice.
Five shots, in the order we filmed them
We followed the sun round the garden rather than the script.
The swing, still, from the kitchen step.
Long grass at knee height.
The chain, close, catching the light.
The fence and the field behind it.
The swing again, moving on its own.
Racing the gold
The light turned gold earlier than forecast, so the last two shots were made in about twenty minutes. The final one only exists because a gust came through as I pressed record.
